Black Friday - Family Journal -

Hello Friends and welcome to Heartfelt Creations Black Friday Release.  I am thrilled at what they are bringing to you today and its been hard to keep this one a secret.

Today I am sharing with you my take on the Journal Album.  As you know i love mixed media and don't often get the chance to dig into my mists; mediums and pastes, so for this release, i thought i should try something  a little different.

Here is the work i did on the cover: -- Warning this post is photo heavy!

This album is close to my heart.  I put a lot of thought into mixed media projects. When i am searching for items to purchase and use, i look at them and wonder if they have a personal meaning for me.

As with most mixed media projects for alot of artists. i put hours into this. I think overall; this took me about 20 hours just for the cover. This is in not including drying time and prep.  The Oval Frame; represents my circle of family.  The largest Heart is the love for my God; My Marriage; My Family; The two smaller hearts. if you can find them through the details of embellishments represent my two children.

The clocks throughout, represent the time we have with one another as you know, time flies by so quickly and we need to cherish our time together! the gears represent the work that is done to keep this family moving; healthy and happy!

When i first received the Black Friday product, I wanted to turn this Journal Album into my idea of a project life style Album, one that had dividers; i added stamped tags throughout, i did cut a few page protectors using my fuse and had fun adding photos from Emma Lous Family;

I left  lots of room for Emma Lou and her family to journal; as although the cover is special to me, the album is really designed with them in mind. I kept the inside rather simple, i didnt add flowers or borders, but i did add tags, and envelopes.

I used large 4x8 tags and stamped sentiments on them, I added Avery Elle Envelopes and used extra 5x7 photos as shown here.

through out the album are tags; Plastic Envelopes with extra papers and photos cut down to size,

The first cover, i created a page protector for this page as i knew it would be handled the most

I love how this turned out so much, that this will be incorporated into some classes for 2018! The large 4x8 tags were added to make room for additional journaling.

I love how this turned out, if you are a class attendee of mine, look for something similar coming to a scrapbook store near you in 2018!

Instructions: Begin to prep the album by using gesso on front and back of the album, I also did the inside cover on both to protect the inside from all the spray. Once dry, apply texture paste using your favorite stencil. I used the morocco one from prima. Once dry, decide on your cover, how you will lay out your embellishments, I started with the oval frame in center, then I built around it, securing it all with gel medium. I attached my album closure under the fabscraps latch on the front of the cover, and I used gel medium here too. I let this dry overnight as I wanted to be sure it was completely dry before I went onto the mists.

Begin with your mist starting with your darkest color of the blues which is siesta key; add in grass and peacock feathers, feel free to dilute with water. I used sand castle underneath all my embellishments to create shadows. Heat set in between layers of color to make it permanent. When you are happy with the look; add your title. I then went over with alchemy wax to highlight and used cowboy glaze to add extra depth in some spots.

 For inside of album; I used the Daily Blessing Journal Page set and adhered two sheets together to create a sturdy page. Adhering photos both 4x6 and some 5x7 and leaving room for Emma Lou to journal on. I added 4x8 tags stamping sentiments on them as well as A 2 craft envelopes with stamped sentiments throughout the album. I cut out large sentiments from pages I didn’t use in the pack and a couple of these I used the fuse to create smaller flip pockets. I used the We r tab punch to add tab dividers to each page.
