Merry Christmas Lantern

Hi Friends and welcome to my blog today.  I have a altered project to share with you using the Gift of Love Box die recently released with Heartfelt Creations.  This die is pretty versatile and i created a lantern from it.

Where the box scores on the bottom half; instead of folding it there and creating a base, i imagined a lantern with a taller body, so i didnt score and fold, i just left it and added a 3.5 x 3.5 square piece of paper scored on .25 on all ends and created my base. I love how this turned out and i used some Art Anthology Coloration Sprays on this too,

Here are some images It just happened to be snowing the day i took these photos

I incorporated some Creative Embellishments chipboard  flourishes and used a stencil from Tim Holtz to create the textured poinsettias

Happy Scrapping!

Instructions: To see a larger photo of this project click here. Cut a 3.5 x 3.5" piece from white chipboard and score .25" on each end. This will be our base of the lantern. Using canson water color paper cut out four of the gift box die. Apply a coat of gesso and let dry. In the meantime Stamp out three sets of the Poinsettia and Holly Clusters and leaf set, color leaves with peeled paint and the poinsettias cracked pistachio. Pierce with paper piercer to make room for the stamen. Attach a few together but leave some singles. Insert stamen from bridal set.
Cover chipboard with versa mark ink and heat set with WOW embossing powder. On all four sides of the gift box, using the tim holtz stencil, add a coat of modeling paste randomly using the poinsettia stencil. Instead of folding the box on the bottom, i attached the white chipboard to each end of the lantern and used heavy duty double sided tape to secure this together.
Using the Art Anthology Mists; apply some color to the lantern on the edges and on the poinsettias and use water to move the color, heat set in between. Add art Stones to the center of the poinsettias as shown in my sample.
Add the chipboard and poinsettias to each side. Detail with frosting powder and crystal clear. Stamp out two merry Christmas sentiments from Celebrate the season set and adhere to sides as shown, Complete and decorate as you like. Cut a 6.75 x 1.5" piece from Canson water color paper for the handle; ink with vintage photo and cracked pistachio attach fabscraps metals to each end with brad and hot glue this to the top as shown.
