i have three men in my home on a regular basis. My hubby, who is my number one, and my two sons, Elijah and Galen. Getting my boys to cooperate for an impromtu photo session is never easy, and being it was bitter cold and this photo was taken outside, i would say it turned out pretty good.

This photo was taken by my girlfriend Terri when we wanted some photos for 2011 christmas cards, so i edited it using Adobe Lightroom and used One Willow Presets. I picked up these my minds eye papers from Sue over at Stamp Shack on Tuesday and wanted to work with them, i came up with this layout ...

i used a reverse masking technique on the background

materials: crafters workshop template and chocolate covered cherries glimmer mist from Tattered Angels. . Used a sizzix heart, 2" scallop circle punch, 1 1/4" scallop circle punch, new flower punch from Stampin Up, maya road bingo motifs, prima flowers and bazill flower.

the base banner was cut on my cricut and the mme chipboard adds such awesome detail

i also used an old sizzix die ( heart) cut the number 1 on my cricut ( plantin schoolbook) same goes for the word- guys- layout is based on the latest sketch from Sketchabilities,

footprints on my heart

family, especially our children, have a way of leaving their footprints on our heart. My oldest, who will be 16 this year, is impressing me with glimpses of the young man he is becoming, and he truly leaves his mark on my heart.

I put together this single page using Quick Quotes Damsel in Distress papers, some of which i had left over from my double page layout kit. Lots of distressing, used QQ Amaretto Chalk Ink and Midnight confessions on the clock and chipboard letters.

The banner i made using bazzill cardstock and left over damsel in distress papers,

the chipboard letters are maya road.

i added a distress area, then used some ilets and twinery twine to finish the touches

the butterfly is also from Quick Quotes, love their frosted butterflies.I inked it using Amaretto Chalk ink.

the rose--spellbinders rose creations die, i followed a tutorial by Natasha Aguirre which you can also find here on her blog. I am lvoing how it turned out, alot of work for one flower but the end result is amazing and its also one of the first times i have found a flower tutorial where my flower actually looks like a rose, lol!!

I used Amaretto chalk ink on the edges of the petals, as well as glue gloss and fairy dust. thanks for dropping by! Happy Scrapping!

its so sad when someone you love isnt feeling well, and hubby hasnt been well for a couple days..I feel bad for him and yet there is really nothing i can do but tend to his needs. so i was down in my scraproom and created this card for him..

the heart is traced from a chipboard heart from Jenni Bowlin, doilie i buy in bulk and is a 6" cut in half.

materials used: Quick Quotes Cherry Truffle papers, bazzill cardstock, prima roses, bo bunny trim, spell binders die, marvy ucida punch, may arts trim, paper trey sentiment.

Just wanted to share one of my favorite kit designs i put together in 2011! This first fav, is called Where there is love, there is Family-designed using Teresa Collins World Traveler Line

i enjoy using corrugated board alot on my layouts and painting it with gesso and misting and inking. There are some fab details

im not one to just stick a title out there, i like the title to be part of the design to blend in with my elements the way i have done here on the heart.

or this 4x8 tag, that i designed into a flip tag, and used part of the top flip for a base of my subtitle. This was a popular workshop and I love how it turned out!

Another of my favorite kit designs from 2011 was using the Damsel in Distress Line from Quick Quotes. showcasing photos of my oldest son, Elijah.

the unique details and handcutting lended to showcase these photos and I created my title again, based on my elements on the 4x8 tag

by handcutting out the word Heart from one of the papers, and adding music notes twill to match the paper, tied it all together. This was a sold out workshop!

good mornning scrappy friends, hope you are all enjoying the bright sunshine out there, seems the weather is to warm up in my neck of the woods over the next couple of days, i cannot believe the weather we are having for December and im certianly not going to complain about it.

So i used Prima Printery line for this project

its my first "single" page layout workshop that comes with a huge amount of product and a beautiful 16x16 Prima frame to showcase your precious photos.

Best thing about this is you can switch out the layout to suit Holidays or family functions.

spellbinders die designed by Samantha Walker is a fav of mine so is the flower burst punch from ek success!

i added some of my own touches like toille, ribbon, fairy dust and pearls from my sewing collection.

I have wanted to play with Teresa Collins, carolina Breeze line and make a personal layout, also did this one yesterday,

( yesterday was a pretty productive day, two tim holtz tags and two 12x12 layouts)

i admit, i love layers, and lots of them, i enjoy working with detailed elements, using mists, and paints, and ruffing the edges, using the Distress it All by Donna Salazar when im working with layers.

i also used Donna Salazar spellbinders die to create the flower here, and the butterfly on the top of the tag, love that set too

created an accordian fold, and sewed it onto the cardboard, used samantha walker spellbinder die and maya road chipboard letters, along with prima black soot ink.

kaiser flowers, pearl brad and wood flourishes added a nice detail, spray with tattered angels black magic glimmer mist, fancy pants buttons and the Twinery Twine

this is my most favorite photo of hubby and i, and i have created many projects with it, I also sewed the cardboard onto the black cardstock. This layout looks fabulous and it will be one i can showcase in my home in my Prima Frame.

Our Dog Sammie

Yesterday i sat down and created a layout dedicated to our dog, Sammie. Some of you know that we had to put our beloved family pet down a couple weeks ago, and I thought it would be nice to create a layout about her.

So the corruagted cardboard was so much fun to play with, i coated it with gesso, while it was still wet, i applied Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint, and took the spraybottle to it and just let it drip, which is why the colour at the top of the cardboard is much stronger then the colour at the bottom, and while it was a bit tacky, i sprinkled Donna salazars Fairy Dust all over hte cardbaord, it looks very feminine and glittery, which you cant really see in this photo.

materials used: Lilly bee designs memorandum line, cricut, tattered angels chipboard, donna salazar spellbinder dies, (creative book pages), clear snap mist, golden fluid acrylic, gesso, donna salazar fairy dust, want to scrap bling and gears, Donna salazar mixed media inks in leather and peridot, Stamping up stamps and punches (butterfly) impression obsession create a card background stamp on tag.

I have always said that scrapbooking is theraputic, and in this layout, it was a final farewell to our beloved Sammie, the dog who brought much joy to our family and happiness to our hearts.

there are many layers on this layout, i love layers and i love working with corruagted cardboard, i dont create much now without it

12 Tags of Christmas-Tag #9

ok, so two tags for me today, and my craft table is an absolute mess, i cannot believe now much of a mess i can make when im creating lol!

so here is my tag 9 playing along with the awesome Tim Holtz and his 12 Tags of Christmas,

1. using impression obsession cover a card wallpaper stamp, i used Papertrey Spring moss ink and applied UTEE, heated(didnt have any clear embossing powder left, how did that happen?)LOL!

2. blended entire tag with aged mahogony...went over it a couple times, im thinking i need a reinker..

3. used a kaiser kraft wood flourish, and kaiser kraft bling

3. didnt have the dies tim used, but my lovely cricut came in handy, i used the jolly holidays cricut lite cartridge for my images and holly leaves,

4. used glossy accents and Tattered Angels Glam, Prima-ink-black,

12 Tags of Christmas-Tag #8

well, missed a few tags from Tim, but when i saw Tag #8 up on his blog, I had to do it...i knew this one was right up my alley, and I also knew, I had some of the materials for this one, so again im using a 4x8 tag..

1. stamped a Tattered Angels flouish stamp using Donna Salazar ink, coated with UTEE, and heat embossed.
2. covered the tag by blending aged mahogony and peeled paint.ran the tag through the distress it all
3. stamped one of tims stamps in upper corner using staz on

4. cut out the clock and gears, covered with walnut stain, peeled paint and aged mahogany.
5. Added the other elements, stamped the nostalgic collection stamp on craft again with staz on, cut it out,

6. Used Graphic 45 letter stickers, for the title, and Paper Trey stamp merry and bright on one of the journal tags. love how this turned out, i think its my favorite one yet :D.

12 Tags of Christmas-Tag 4

so i fell a bit behind with Tim and his 12 Tags of Christmas this past weekend, but looking at Tag #3, i have no cut n dry felt, so totally skipped that tag, and went onto Tag #4,

what i really enjoy about Tims Tutorials, is you dont have to follow them EXACTLY the way he does, especially if you do not have all the same materials he uses.( i do not have any of the dies that tim used, but thought my cricut would come in handy and it did)

I dug out some Close to my Heart Stamps, and my cricut-Joy to the Season and Plantin Schoolbook cartridges to do the snowman similar to Tim's. Mind you, lining up the snowman to have the numbers from the plantin school book cartirdge was a wee bit tricky, and it did take a couple tries, but it looks close to the dies that Tim used.

so here is my take on Tag #4 with Tim Holtz

I am using 4x8 tags, i love the larger size, allows me to have a larger play area too.

1. so to begin with, i spritzed the tag with water

2. placed broken china distress stain, weathered wood distress stain, and forest most distress stain on my kraft mat, added a bit more water to the mat, placed my tag over the colour, and heat set to dry.

3. cut my snow man from the joy to the season cricut cartidge, ( on white cardstock set at 5.5")and lined up the belly to cut the numbers from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge...cut off the broom. numbers are set at 1.75 inches. used my three inch scallop circle punch and punched a circle from Melissa Frances christmas paper

4. covered the snow man with clear rock candy crackle paint, set aside to dry

5. distressed edges of my tag with Ingvild Bolme tools from Prima, inked edges with Olive Vine from Prima,

6. stamped snowflake images from close to my heart stamps using weathered wood, forest moss on tag.

7. stamped close to my heart flourishes using Paper Trey First Snow ink.heat set again to dry.

8. used maya road chipboard snowflakes, painted with gesso and covered two of them with distress stain in borken china and weathered wood., kept one white and sprinkled donna salazar fairy dust.

9.crackle wasnt drying fast enough, so i heat set it, covered the snowman with broken china distress stain ( looks awesome doesnt it)-also sprinkled some broken china distress stain on the tag, tim used water, i used stain.

10. added some button detail, and there you have my take on Tag 4! I know its not exactly like Tim Holtz tag 4-but i love how mine turned out.

12 Tags of Christmas--Tag 2

Oh, two posts in one day, thats only because i decided to get right into tag two with Tim, which you can find here: didnt have any resist kraft on hand, so i created my own resist.

A stamped resist on this tag, love how it turned out, also again, using melissa frances christmas line. I have decided i will use her entire line ( being i have it on hand, and tim insists to use what you have) :D

1. stamped on tag using peeled paint distress ink, covered with clear emobssing powder, heated
2. went over with blending tool and created a resist by removing excess colour.
3. used donna salazar spellbinder die to cut the border, and decided to cut two of them, covered them with aged mahagony distress ink, and used
4.The Twinery Twine to tie the two together. along with may arts ribbon, maya road trinket pins, melissa frances christmas line, tattered angels chipboard

12 Tags of Christmas--Tag 1

I have often wanted to participate in Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas, but have been so busy that there just didnt seem to be enough time, but this year, i really wanted to make time and commit to doing at least half of the tags.

you can find tim holtz first tag here, i didnt have the same dies as Tim did, but i did mange to play along with the techniques he showed on his blog. What i love about following a technique like Tim posts on his blog, you read it, you look at the ideas, and you run with it, and work in your own style, as he insists....use what you have!

so using the christmas line from Melissa Frances, i came up with this tag:

1. i first covered the 4x8 tag in fired brick distress ink

2. using a cuttlebug embossing folder, i used the same technique tim did by applying versa mark to the folder, and apply white embossing ink right away to the tag, brushing off excess. then heat embossing

3. sanded using the sanding tool by tim holtz

4. using donna salazar mixed media inks-white-i edged the tag with it.

5. also used some canavas corp fringe and stick back canvas for the border.

6. also reinforced using a 7 gypsies reinforcement sticker, love these.

The love of a Pet

I dont know how many of you are pet owners out there, but we in the Gerber Household, we have three pets. Two cats, One named Kitty, the other, Memo, and a 5 yr old female, Chow/Blue Heeler cross dog, named Sammie.

Working with german Shepards most of my adult life, i never thought i would want any other animal in my home, other then a Shephard, but when the time came and the boys began asking for a dog, hubby found an ad in the local supermarket for a litter of pups not to far from our home, born on dairy farm.

Sammie was adopted by our family in May of 2006. She was one of the only pups in that litter on the farm in St Pauls, that came to the boys when they called for them. We fell in love with her Green eyes ( which soon changed to brown 8 weeks later) and her furry body. She looked like a big ball of fur.

We soon brought her home with us. and our youngest came up with the name Sammie and it seemed to suit her so well.

Sammie went with us, where ever we went ( cept to Florida) where we were thankful we only had to board her in a kennel once since she was part of our family, friends and family tended to her needs while we vacationed in Florida over the four years she was with us.

From camping, to biking, to hiking, to swimming, to visiting family in Kingston, and London, she was right by our side. From short walks to long walks, walks to the park, and just up the street, from sitting by my side while i scrapbooked, to being hubbys first greeter each and every morning. Sammy was always there!

a year after having Sammie in our home, i had developed serious allergies to her, and out of my love for her, and the love for my children, we decided we couldnt part with her. We had purchased an Oreck Air Purifier which seemed to lessen the symptoms of my allergies, although for the past 3 years, i continued to have a cough, Sammie brought much joy, love and laughter to our hearts.

Having to say farewell to a beloved pet, is never easy, especially when Sammie Girl was such a large part of our family, she was a protector, a friend, a cat chaser, a rabbit defender, a Gerber household greeter to everyone who entered our home, and soon many friends fell in love with her too.

Sammie was with us for five years, which looking back now, isnt nearly long enough considering one of our cats has been with us for over 10 years. We had never thought that Sammie Girl would be going to Dog heaven anytime soon, but God had other plans for our beloved family pet.

Something was terribly wrong with Sammie yesterday, and we had thought that she got into something, maybe ate something that didnt agree with her, as a pet owner, you parent your pets, the way, you care for your family members when they are sick, you assume it will pass, and tend to their care the best you can. Looking at her symptoms, i had thought she had stomach torsion problems ( like in the movie Marly & Me) and googled it---thats when i realised the severity of the situation.

i could tell she was in pain, and decided at 10:45p.m., I could no longer see her in this condition and put in an emergency call to a local vet clinic. About 15 mins later, a call was placed back to our home, and at 11:30 pm last night. Sammie and I went to a local clinic.

She was such a trooper, i think she knew in her heart, i was trying to help her by bringing her to a clinic where there were all kinds of other cat, and dog smells she could pick up. The vet did a check on her, she was severely dehyrated ( not surprised as she couldnt keep water down) and her heart rate was over 200 beats a minute and the vet said she is very ill.

After giving Sammie some pain medication, we were able to have some Xrays done. The Xrays showed that her stomach had ruptered and she was toxic, there was nothing that could be done. The vet said that surgery likley could not save her, and that Sammie would likely not make it through the night, that, she was suffering and in terrible pain. The humane thing to do was to put her to sleep. Putting your family pet down, to prevent further suffering, is never an easy decision! We do not know what caused her stomach to rupture, that will forever be a mystery to us.

Never in my life, had i thought that putting a pet down, would be so difficult, and yet, i couldnt bear to see our beloved pet suffer. I was so happy that Sammie chose us to be her family while she was here with us, and so privledged i can say we were the proud owner of such an awesome dog!

So our first family dog, Sammie Gerber, will forever be in our hearts, and her spirit, will always be with us. I hope you are chasing all the rabbits you want, where ever you may be, Sammie Girl!

Christmas Mini Album

I began working with the new Deck The Halls line from Melissa Frances this past Friday and I just love how this mini album came together. Its a beautiful family keepsake that you can display year after year during the holidays season, sewn pages will ensure its rugid durability.

Of course, i couldnt resist using corrugated cardboard for the cover, which was covered in gesso and Donna Salazar Fairy Dust and Mixed Media Ink in Honey was the perfect complement.

Each Tag Page is covered with cardstock, which is stamped with Tattered Angels-heidi Swapp stamp set, distressed and ink distressed then sewn onto each pocket page.

Its alot of work for a keepsake, but the end result is oh, so worth it.

Good Morning Scrappers:

i havent used this blog in a long time being that my online store has a word press blog attached, but i felt it was time to use this again to promote my designs and kits that are launched in the store.

I have been busy with kits and held my first in home workshop this week. It was nice to see familiar faces, some i havent seen in a while since i pulled out of instructing at stores and started my own kit designs. The workshop was a success and i will be teaching regular classes and soon will be hosting crops here too :D

When i found out that my niece was getting married, I mentioned to her that i could do her wedding invites..and if she might be interested, she knew how to contact me. Well, i did a couple samples for her and this past week, I spent most of my spare time, doing her invitations, response cards, and favors. There is nothing more precious then knowing that when you send out wedding invitations, that you personally made them or had a hand in making them and assembling them. Shannon spent alot of time here with me assembling the final details and I can thankfully say, Project complete. I hope the guests enjoy the invites as much as I did creating them.

with friends is much needed once in a while. I always try go to Memories Manor twice a year. Memories Manor is by far, the one stop get away spot for Scrappers..if you have never experienced this awesome retreat, and are only a couple hrs drive from St Clair, Michigan, i encourage you to check it out.... so anyway....a few friends and I decided to go to Mega Meet for the first time this year, and how lucky were we that it coincided with our Memories Manor weeked. We loved it so much we are returning next year..all this in one fun filled, Mothers Day Getaway. And of course, scrapping was done. While at Mega Meet, i purchased a few things, and found an awesome kit site, The Button Farm, so its not a button site, like i originally thought, they are a kit site with some pretty amazing mini album and altered item kits. Here is a kit i purchased and completed...

and I also managed to complete a 10x20 canvas, this was originally a quick quotes kit, but all i wanted was the canvas, so i discarded everything but the canvas and designed this..using some prima papers, distress stains, fluid acrylics. There is five layers of colour on that canvas..

playing with some pan pastels...new tim holtz kraft resist papers and fluid acrylic paints, Heartfelt Creations Stamps, Spellbinders, Copics, and Art Institute Glitter, came up with this..

more fluid acrylic, tim holtz distress stains, mme stella rose and tim holtz new kraft resist papers, i love how this turned out, the photo doesnt show the patina look the paper had taken on but i love, love, love...how this turned out.....

It was a most incredible weekend, and we didnt begin scrapping until we arrived at Memories Manor on Friday, so i think i accomplished more then i thought i would. My weekend was filled with many laughs, chats, fun, food and good times. I feel so very blessed to have had the opportunity to get away and destress......

nesting robins...

you know its spring when the trees begin to bud and the robins are on your lawn searching for earth worms. With all the rain, im thinking our soil must be rich in earth worms as there have been many robins around this year, more then normal. Last year hubby and I built a pergola over our deck and hot tub area. We love our deck so much more now. This past winter we put lattice fencing up to protect the hot tub from the snow. ( we use it alot) So most of the lattice will be coming down this spring....and now..there is a family of robins liking our pergola area too... We have had a momma robin attempt to build her nest right above our hot tub. Im not happy with the fact that she chose a nesting spot in our pergola, number 1. Number 2, she chose a spot right above the hot tub..see that rung, right above the tub.. ...hubby took down the first attempt at the nest..momma robin moves from truss to truss....maybe we caught it just in time and she didnt get the chance to complete it...it sits on our side bench. well momma robin is a persistent one...and she wasted no time and the next night, she must have had a whole crew in, as by morning, this nest was found the next truss down over our hotub. Hubby took it down and set it on the bench...thinking momma robin would figure out we didnt want her nesting over our tub...this nest was much stronger, and higher, well that didnt stop momma robin.. well, momma robin is pretty determined to nest in our pergola, and again, one truss down, yesterday morning, we found this nest.. she cant go any further, this is the last truss in our pergola.. we have decided to let her nest there...she obviously thinks its a good spot, and who are we to interrupt nature. Only sad part is, its above the tub..next to the rope lighting, which we think she has been sitting on as it is sagging in this area...and it didnt use to be...good thing is, its on a wide ledge, and when the babies decide to learn to fly, they have plenty of room to walk on the 2x4... i have read that robins only nest in peaceful, tranquil areas, and will not put their babes in danger....an old wives tale, says, this is good luck to have a bird nesting close to your home..well i hope that proves true and the babes dont fall...the cover is soft...maybe that will help brake their fall...it still makes me nervous... i will update you as momma Robin continues the growth of her family. I can hear her singing out there as i type this...i think she might finally be happy :)....we are too.

Many of us have experienced a long distance family drive at one point...( many are we there yets, and i need to go to the bathroom) are memories of our long distance road trips...lol!! hello scrappy friends...it was raining when i headed into my scraproom this morning, and i have come out with a beautiful vintage keepsake...perfect for any male or female photos...although the main colours in this workshop are pink, ( yeah i know, me using pink) but i used photos of my youngest son, and the blue details just complete it. vintage whimsy...from girls paperie.....sew lots of fun to be had in this one :)..if you feel more comfortable wearing an apron, that might be a good idea. ....we will be again, be creating our own background on cardstock using spun sugar distress ink.., using fluid acrylics on canvas, sewing, glimmer misting chipboard, using page text to create a beautiful ribbon border...it will be a messy workshop, so please, do not wear white. That was the base for my upcoming workshop at Memories on Main Street in Lambeth, we will be playing with Glubers, as well as playing with fluid acrylics, stamping with glimmer mist, stamping with acrylic paint, this is a 3.5 hr class and i know you will love all the details. be prepared to get your hands dirty :)

Paradise Challenge 09

Oh Happy Day!!... It's Friday! Time for another fabulous challenge over on the Scrapbooker's Paradise blog! This week I chose to give the team a banner challenge. Banners are a big hit in the industry and we are seeing them on all kinds of projects.

For this challenge, there are many creative ways to design a banner. You can make it out of canvas, chipboard, or just paper...you can hang it, brad it, bead it, mist it, paint it..you can put a title on it, monogram it or leave it blank with detail...the end result is up to you! ...

My take on the challenge was actually a mini album page that I designed as an element on a 12x12 scrapbook page, this is filled with dimension, and lots of detail

The base of the banner is 2"x 1 1/2" chipboard, inked it using wild honey distress ink, cut Pink Paislee Tabs from their Anthology line down to size, punched out a scallop circle and used foam adhesive to give it dimension..I just love how this turned out..

butterfly garden...

when a designer sits down to design a workshop, sometimes you just never know what will happen, what products you will bring into it, or how it will end up....sometimes you are not happy with whats happening and you walk away from the project to come back and start over.... that is exactly what happened to me this week.

Playing with Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden line for Memories on Main Street, i came up with this absolutely gorgeous workshop entitled Family.. we will be hand cutting. glimmer misting, painting with acrylic paint, and fluid acrylic, along with sewing, and stamping...

i used some recent photos from our family vacation in florida..due to the techniques in this workshop, i have set aside 3 hours to complete it....date is set for:

so many scrap projects so little time...went to London today to see Sue at Stamp Shack, picked up some new materials for upcoming classes (all new Pink Paislee) ... stopped in at Macpherson Arts and Crafts (wanted to grab... notice i said wanted... not needed) lol) some golden fluid acrylics... on the way home and had a few funny moments with Brenda and Gladys....came home and hit the scraproom... there is nothing more theraputic, then playing with paper, getting creative and seeing the end result...here is a sneak peek... oh and that new distress ink colour, is now my fav, good bye vintage photo...hello Wild Honey! love it!

this one using an older line which i still love, Andrea Victoria from MME, filled with lots of layering unique details including sewing and glimmer mist, perfect for walking away photos while hand in hand, fall photos or any family photos in sepia or black and white. Spring is in the Air

and with spring, comes a season of of workshops. I am back at Designing after taking a couple months off for hubbys business and family priorities....that being two weeks in Florida.... I will be doing things a bit differently this year, to cut back on travel time. I will be spending a couple days a month in all stores i work with, to complete store samples and workshop designs. Today, I did just that at Scrapbook Memories new location at 151 Pine Valley Blvd, in London, Ontario. Jodies new location, is bright and cheerful, workshop center holds 18 people, brand new product displays and inspiring samples...oh yeah, i love my job! so i played with Primas new Madeliene line today and designed a brand new workshop-Creatively Me...its rare that we as scrapbookers create layouts of ourselves, so this one is for you... to get you from behind the camera, and the focus of this workshop..lots of details including handcutting...so be fore warned..I promise you, I have some fabulous workshops coming your way... The double page is on display at Scrapbook Memories, date will be set for April...yet to be confirmed..here are some sneak peeks to tweek your curiosity....

********************* Second workshop coming in April, using Bo Bunnys new Timepiece Line...i loved this line when i saw it up for the CHA W Releases... and was happy to have the opportunity to play with it when i ordered it in...its a vintage, rustic style, perfect for old sepia, black and white photos you may have of your parents, or grandparents...we will be stamping and playing a bit with UTEE, and again, alot of creative detail and sewing.

I am really excited to be working with two fabulous stores in London again this year, and looking forward to seeing you all again soon...

Hi Everyone

im not sure if many of you know that i am also a sketch Designer..a year and a half ago, i started Sketchabilities, a sketch site dedicated to single page layouts...and just over a year ago, i started Cardabilities..dedicated to cardmakers...both sites, offer reveals twice a month, with, in my opinion...fabulous Teams...

Recently, i had the privledge of chosing brand new design teams for our new term April - June..it was a difficult task, i felt so blessed to see such amazing talent from scrappers and cardmakers around the globe, who wanted to take part in Sketchabilities and Cardabilities.

Its rare..i mean really rare, that photos of hubby and i are taken, and when i find one i like, i tend to scrap it more then once...this one was taken by a dear friend Tina, this past fall, and i had started this layout before heading to florida, but hadnt completed it until this past weekend...

My hubby is the best..i know many of us can say we have the best hubby, but i feel i do have the best guy..and really enjoy our time spent together...

while putting finishing touches on it, i was stuck for a title .....while thinking how mushy i wanted to get...i was listening to music while scrapping...and in the background, Oliva Newton John's song came on...I Honestly Love You...and i thought what a perfect title...

Paradise Challenge 04

Greetings from Sunny Florida....sorry im posting this one late, internet access at our home resort in Florida was dial up service..and uploading images took a long time..so im posting this now.... time to bring you another challenge from the Challenge Team over at Scrapbookers Paradise and today it was my turn to bring you a challenge!

The Inspiration came from Dana this week , here is Dana's inspiration piece! Dana inspired the team to lift the design, the colours, the shape, or the entire card if your heart desires! Whatever you do, we had to be sure there's a resemblance to hers!

and I decided to create some wall art for our home...the base is a 9" circle chipboard.. i then used my cricut and Accent Essentials Cartridge to cut circles in various sizes. I distressed and sewed together. The new Twig line from MYLB was used to create this home decor piece. ...so here is my take on the challenge...

I did alot of layering on this one....I just love the New Twig line from MYLB... and Ranger Distress Ink in Weathered Wood, and my handy Tonic Studios Edge Distresser MLYB-Twig-Topsy Turvy, MLYB-Twig-Petaled, MLYB-Twig-Pleased Plaid, MLYB-Twig-Chipboard Shapes, MLYB- Twig-Canvas Borders, MLYB-Twig-Corrugated Shapes, October Afternoon Mini Market Alphabet Letters,

Morning Scrappers: Its Friday! wow cannot believe its Friday and we have been on holidays almost a week already...we are enjoying the weather here and having a blast...I managed to complete a couple challenges for Scrapbookers Paradise Challenge Team and today it was my turn to bring you a challenge!

My Challenge was to use your Edge Distressor and rough up those edges...there isnt much i create that i dont use this handy tool...i edge distress everything...using this handy little tool...which i believe, should be part of your basic tool kit...

...so here is my take on the challenge...

I did alot of layering on this one....I just love the Midnight Frost from Bo Bunny which was perfect for an older winter photo i had of Galen...

on holidays

Hi there: I havent been posting...i know...family and I are in Florida for holidays and I have been trying to stay away from the computer! Normally for me, that would be rather difficult......but its been really easy this vacation....considering my boys have not complained once about not having their X Box here... ....im attaching a couple photos of the gorgeous spot where we are at for the first week of our vacation, hubby and I own a timeshare here at Orange Lake Resorts and we absolutely love it! Next week we move over to Westgate Vacation villas, where we also own another week.... We have some friends joining us this year, Don and Terri Eckhardt and their three boys are with us and we are all having a great time...we hit Disney for a day and have been doing alot of swimming. The coolest temp has been 73 degrees....its been awesome! Here are all the boys together along Lazy River...the first day we were here... i hear the temps are warming up back home...it would be nice to bring all this warm sunny weather back with us....crossing my fingers...

Two posts in one day, can you believe it

Jodie was able to post some photos of the new store ( case you havent heard, Scrapbook Memories is moving to a brand new location) and I am so excited to be a part....here is the new address: 151 Pine Valley Blvd. London, Ontaro Watch the blog for further updates

Good Afternoon....we have a PA Day in South western Ontario, which is a good thing as we are in the midst of a snow storm...( boys have yet to have a snow day and i think chances were pretty good, that if today was not a PA Day,

it would have been their first snow day of the season.

so it makes for indoor activities today....

******************************** So my friend Terri has been talking about making a cover for her camera strap, so i googled ( yes i google once in a while, oops)

and found this link

i have to admit, im not a good sewer...

and this easy project was right up my alley, squares and straight sewing....ha! here are my blocks cut and ready to sew (found in my fabric stash of good intentions)

and my end result...i like it, im off to make one out of some pinks i have sitting in my stash of good intentions too :)

soul restoration

wondering where Ive been? what ive been up to? i have been taking a creative break and enrolled myself in Soul Restoration....with Melody Ross..( well i didnt think i would be creating this much).....the first week, I redid the first 7 pages three times, ( thats a big creative mess) i found myself getting frustrated and went back to the drawing board...and decided...it wasnt me...it was the Podge... i wasnt loving the mod podge look on the pages and in the end, my design didnt speak to me...this was not my work....i went back to the scrap table and got my mists and inks out and put the podge away...sorry Melody... but this is where my creativity began flowing, i put these pages together faster, then i did when i was using the podge....these speak to me, more, then the first two attempts did... this is more my style, I know i will reach for this album again and again, Thank you Melody! this is my cover....after kicking everyone out of my house...i closed my doors...and am now....on the mend....I had many moon people in my life...and even though I put them on the moon, long before I enrolled in this class....i had most of my work done..without knowing it...... but even though I am doing some indepth soul research, re evaluating my soul... as a woman, a sister, a mother, a wife, a friend, an artist...I am still here.... i redesigned a couple of the elements in our pdf downloads...so i can colour them any colour i wanted...

and even though i have made mistakes, all things have happened to me for a reason, I am meant to be where i am, and I am where i should be....It doesnt mean I dont deserve the things I want, all these experiences have made me stronger and its time i begin to use these strengths positively... this is all part of my Journey...

I am a good person, I deserve the things I want, I just need to let go of the toxic relationships in my life, and let go of the things holding me back...I NEED TO BE BRAVE...and take my first new steps... my truth teller spoke to me...and the truths...are what i needed...to let go...

I began working on Week Two...have another mini album inked misted and assembled...just to sit down and complete...

So i am still here, just doing some Soul Restoration!

after completing all my prep work for a workshop on Saturday, i decided to sit back and play a bit...its been awhile since i have had the chance to do that so it felt really good... on a side note...

Yesterday i took myself on a little road trip, stopped off at Scrapbook Memories bought a couple things and took advtange of the sale Jodie has going on. Since the sun was out, i thought i should go to Komoka ( Scrappin Great Deals ) and picked me up some Echo Park Be Mine Collection i have to admit, when i saw this relase on line, i thought there was too much pink in it ( im not a huge fan of pink) shhhh dont tell them i said that) after seeing the papers IRL... that was it, i had to have it...so today i created this layout ..used some glimmer mist (Strawbeery Shortcake Chalkboard and Black Cherry Glimmer Mist) and Tattered Angels Screens on the background..and here it is..(glossy accents are not quite dry)

i wanted to go into a bit more detail on a few of my favorite layouts (projects)over the past year...

First Fav: Grateful For You one of my most favs...is this layout using the thankful line from Teresa Collins...the photo is of hubby and I, and we were visiting a dear friend in Innisfil when this was taken. We have very few photos of us..so my friend Tina took care of that for us.....and i really wanted to capture the love we have after 17 years..

the background was originally vanilla, which i stamped using a background stamp, then I stamped ontop of that and heat embossed using Tattered Angels Stamps. I then created a resist technique.. sprayed the entire vanilla background with Glimmer Mist ( Pumpkin Pie)

materials used: Bazzill Cardstock, Teresa Collins Thanksful Line, Tim Holtz Mini Stapler, Glimmer Mist, Glossy Accents,distress ink, papertrey felt, cricut sans serif, magenta corrugated cardboard, impression obsession stamps

Second Fav: Handsome Young Man:

Another vanilla background, stamped, distressed, and covered in Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ( love that stuff) Photos are of Elijah..and were taken in our backyard when one of their cousins visited last summer..it amazes me, i see him each and every day and when i capture a photo like this, i realise how much he has changed....and he is such a handsome young man..this was such a well loved technique that it was turned into a successful workshop!

Third Favorite:Love of My Life

another one of my hubby...Glenn...photo was taken last February in Florida on our Family Vacation...this man is self employed and finds it hard to take a break..so when we are in Florida at our timeshare, i make sure he takes it easy..(well i try to) lol! this photo captures him at his relaxed best...created for a Stamping Background Call for Creating Keepsakes..and turned into a background tutorial for Tattered Angels..

materials used: Tattered Angels stamps, chipboard, glimmer mist, distress ink, spellbinders, graphic 45 A Proper Gentlemen papers, i also really love how this mini album turned out...using again, Teresa Collins Thankful Line and her black chipboard album, which i cut down to 7"

i had to show you these cards i coloured with my Copics and turned it into an advanced Copic Class at Karens Creations Fall Retreat..Stamps are from Whiff of Joy..sadly, i couldnt bring myself to give these away this holiday season...

i hope i have inspired you to get those glimmer mists sitting in your stash out....i find i just cant create without the mist anymore...

Hi everyone... first, i have to apologise for not posting on my blog as i often do..there use to be daily posts...if not weekly and that has changed in the last few months as the 2010 year started to wind down.... I removed myself from the Sketchabilities Design Team to concentrate on the stores I have been working with and am finding out, those bi weekly reveals were more for me, then the workshops were....so.....there will be changes this year....I have come to realise i havent created for myself for a long time..(its been years since i last created for myself) and it is beginning to affect my designing.... Since 2007.......i have had deadlines to meet, bi weekly dt reveals, monthly projects, monthly blog posts and tutorials to prep, samples with new product, classes to design and although i have loved being part of that creative journey, and I have enjoyed the process....i found through it all, i wasnt really creating for me...i was creating for a class, for a reveal, for a sample, was my heart in it, well, in all honesty...i have to say NO...i was going through the motions....dont get me wrong, i love to scrapbook, i love the hobby and i love how creative i can be, but it wasnt for me... 2011 i want to change that...i want to create more for ME...and not for the sake of scheduling a class or workshop, not for the sake of working with the latest and greatest......i have been reflecting on how this has affected my style as a designer & class instructor and i will be bringing forth some changes this year... I can also honestly say ...i am tired of driving...tired of being on the road 2-3 days a week...especially at night. I have put far too many miles on our family vehicle..I have made some incredible friendships over the years, met some awesome people...shared many smiles, joys and laughter.....i want to be home more this year, be here for my family and with that, will be more changes....I have a few classes on the schedule this month and with that...there will be no classes scheduled until the Spring......i will still be instructing classes...but am taking a break until Spring.. On the Homefront... December brought with it alot of time with family. I love our family, we have four awesome boys...Joel (28) ( married to Gailyn) Devon (27) ( awesome girlfriend Meaghan)and Elijah (14) and Galen (11) who are growing up before my eyes.... We are so very blessed and we have found out that we are expecting the birth of our first Grandchild....Glenns oldest son Joel and his wife Gailyn are expecting in June and we are absolutely thrilled about it...and we are heading into another chapter in the lives of our family....and I cannot wait to jump in... so i was just thinking out loud and wanted to share a few thoughts with you...readers of my blog, those who come by to see whats new, maybe you're a follower, or you have taken classes with me, or youre a dear friend...i just felt i needed to update you....and on that note...until next time...I wish you and your loved ones...a very blessed New Year... and will keep you updated on upcoming workshops..

We had some milestones in our home this school year, Elijah went into highschool...Grade 9, and ventured out on a new bus and new time schedule for the first time in 9 years....Galen, for the first time in 8 years, was on his school bus without his big brother for the first time...the first few weeks of school brough forth many changes for the both of them and they adjuested well... these photos are Elijah in Grade 1, I cannot believe the changes in him, he is turning into such a fine young man...and his goals that he has set forth for himself are going to take him places, i only dreamed of going....Best of luck to you bud!! You can achieve anything you set your mind to!

i take my words back, ha, December 1st is not my last Class at Stamp Shack...(Memories on Main) I brought this layout into my scheduled class tonight and my group of regular class attendes, loved it and we booked my real, last class for Wed, December 8...

Halloween in Wonderland

Hello everyone...i taught my first of 4 Halloween in Wonderland Workshops last night, this first one at Stamp Shack in downtown London, the girls loved it...and had the chance again to play with lots of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and a bit of Glam...i thought i would post the image here, this is my first time sharing full images in a long time.....so im a bit nervous about it!

I just wanted to share some sneak peeks of new projects i created using the lovely Giving Thanks Line from Teresa Collins, ( i absolutely love this line)

this sneak is for an upcoming Sketchabilities Reveal..

the following detail shot, is from a Teresa Collins Album which originally measured 7x13, which i cut down to 7x9.5 and I designed a Gratitude Album of me and my Hubby

I had started working on these projects at Scrapbook Queens grand opening and alot of customers voiced interest in whether or not these would be turned into upcoming Workshops...my only answer was...

a few creations

i have been busy creating samples this week for Jodie over at Scrapbook Memories...for her booth at Scrapfest in Oshawa this coming weekend......... Not all of them i can share with you now, as they were created using future sketches from Sketchabilities! this first one I used the new line from Pink Paislee-Anthology...love this line..because i was able to get glimmery and inky...

this next one, using MME Alphabet soup, those animals are from the deck of cards that was launched with this line..the larger elephant is a diecut chipboard shape that Jodie sells in her store..fits perfectly with this line.

this last one, is using the Pink Paislee Sweetness line..i have to admit, the colours at first were not my fav, but i love how this turned out

halloween in Wonderland

hello everyone...Its Oct already, and it looks as though the fall season is upon us. With fall, comes Halloween and what better way to celebrate those trick or treat photos, then by having a layout created just for the haunting fun. I have put together a wonderful halloween workshop using the papers from Graphic 45-Halloween in Wonderland. We will again also be using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. This workshop will be held at three of the stores that i currently instruct at:

family farm day

there is something that has to be said about getting back to your roots and finding out where all our food comes from...for us...that happens to be Family Farm Day at Oakridge Acres, in Ayr, Ontario.

my brother in law and his family own a black angus beef farm in Ayr, Ontario. And they are one of the few farmers who raise their beef drug/hormone free.

so we venture out every year at this time to meet other farmers who are on board with the same attitude ( no hormornes, no drugs,) and it really makes you rethink what you are puting into your body and on the table for your family.

Aside from trying out some very tasty food, you can also go on a horse drawn carriage ride through the lush part of the Gerber Farm.

both my boys have enjoyed the chocolate milk from Harmony Dairy now for years and they felt i should just purchase each of them their own 1 litre glass bottle..

and of course Martins Apples...honey Crisp, our favorites, and the farmer told us they were smaller this year, but the boys had to use two hands to hold these ones...

in the end we had an incredible day, even though the rain came ....

lots of tasty treats to try from tea, to home grown peanuts, pork sausage, emu sausage, turkey and chicken...all drug/hormone free

it was such an incredible day...and im glad we ventured out...what better way to educate your children on farm living, then to get down to the farm and experience it first hand...

Sketch #31 Reveal and a new Sponsor

Its another reveal over at Sketchabilities and we also have a new Sponsor...I am very excited about our new Sponsor as they sent product to our Design Team to work with for this reveal, how cool is that...and yes...to designers world wide...which is doubly awesome..

so our Sponsor today is EAD Designs and they mailed product out from their Stickerz Line...the ones i received were wedding related, so i created a card and a layout sketch for designers to work with... Here is my take

CC Designs...love their stamps and the sugarplum images...Sue at Stamp Shack recently received her first shipment of CC Stamps and I purchased a few of them to play with...here is one i completed over the weekend
