Be Curious - Dusty Attic

Hi Friends and welcome back to my blog, today i am sharing a mixed media project i designed for Dusty Attic. Being that i am still waiting on my DT Box to get here from Austrailia, my supplies i have on hand are down to borders, bits and pieces from left over used parts and titles ( which are too large for what i had in mind. But i did manage to put this together.

This is designed on a 5x7 canvas. Which i first painted with Ivory Acrylic, then added texutre to the background using light paste and a Prima Stencil.

Using a piece of the Cog Corner, i cut it in two and used it as a border under the Cog Border #3. One i had these all glued down, I painted over with Stamperia Turchese Paint, let dry and then set about using the Burnt Sienna Liquid Acrylic to look like rust

i had a few bits left over from the mini cogs and placed them on the project too. Adding a few platters of white acrylic paint and turquoise spray. here is my finished project.

adding a couple tim holtz flat heads to layer and add dimension.

Materials Used:

Mini Cogs #2,  Cog Border #3, Cog Corners

Other Materials:

Golden ivory Paint; Prima light Paste; Prima Stencil; Prima Liquid Acrylic - Burnt Sienna, Turquois Gloss Spray; Stamperia Turchese Paint; Prima Gold Wax

With Brave Wings She Flies - 49 and Market

Hi friends and welcome back! Today I am sharing a mixed media project for 49 and Market, it has been a long time since i have dug into my mediums, honestly, i do not consider myself a mixed media artist, but i do like to dabble, play around and have fun.

I have been wanting to do a canvas, and had some Vintage Artistry Teal Papers on hand, and  some florals i felt would coordinate with what i had in mind.

The Canvas is a deep Edge ( meaning the edge is over an inch thick) and i reversed it to create shadow box kind of idea. Cutting papers ( 10x10, 6x8 and 5x7) distressing them with an edge distressor. I used Prima Chipboard and moulds.

I added some rust and paint to the chipboard clock and mounted that on the 5x7 paper, and made this my center focal point.

Using three packs of Blooms i ruffled them all up, some i misted with water to get them to be a bit more pliable. Others, I added gesso to tone the color down,. When i had everything in place and glued down, I added art stones and splatters of paint.

I hope you have enjoyed my project share with you and I will be back in a couple weeks to share more.

Happy Birthday - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Hello Friends and welcome back Today i am sharing a card designed for Elizabeth Craft Designs using Florals 12 to create some beautiful Lilies. Lilies remind me of spring and with the thought of warmer weather soon to come, i wanted to create some cheery florals.

I cut 6 large, 6 medium and four small from florals 12 and colored them with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink. I cut the leaves from Florals 1, and colored them with Bundled Sage.

I also cut out three hearts from the Stitched Hearts and lightly inked the edges. I cut two sets of the Blooming Branches and cut them apart tucking them in around my florals to add more dimension.

The smaller florals i also colored with Bundled Sage, layering them together and using yellow stamens in the centers.

Using Stamens from Dress My Craft i used them in the center, using my hot glue gun to secure them. To get that beautiful frosted look i used Diamond Dust along with Rock Candy Crackle, which dreis clear and allows the frost to shine through.

I hope you like my card and my take on lilies using Florals 12, i hope you give these florals a try.
Looking forward to seeing you again, until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Unforgettable Moments - Dusty Attic

Hi Friends and welcome back to my blog. I have another layout to share with you, this one base on this months mood board from Dusty Attic.

This months mood board is filled with greens and a bit of mustard so i decided to concentrate of those colors. Using the small Scroll #2 painting it using Distress re Inker on all the chipboard items, splashing a bit of Gold Coin Paint.

I cut apart the Fish net Panel coloring them the same as did all my chipboard pieces.

The photo is of our waterfront here on our retirement property. The rock pile ( which we call rock point) is a great spot to sit and ponder the view we have.

tucking in pieces of the Scroll, the fish net and the anchor.

I love how this all came together and hope you do too. See you next time.

Until Then, Happy Scrapping

Collector of Curiosities - Junk Journal - 49 and Market

Hello Friends and welcome back to  my blog. I am excited to share with you my first attempt at a Junk Journal, i have long been an admirer of these journals and been wanting to create one. The New 49 and Market Curators Botanical collection was perfect for this project, and below are some images plus i have created a walk through video.

To begin with, i started with a copy paper size ( 8.5 x 11) for my main paper, this was to be the cover.  I trimmed the spine with the washi tape to give this journal some extra strength. You will noticed throughout the journal i have done this to a few pages to give them added strength.

i cut  papers from the collection to sizes i felt would work in the journal as well i incorporated the book plates ephemera and much more in this journal. In total there are 8 pages, ( 16 using both sides)

All bound together with Seam binding that i colored to match the gorgeous butterfly on the cover.

the above is the middle of the journal. This gives you an idea how i have incorporated all the bits and pieces from the collection to embellish and add so much detail to this junk journal.

on the cover i have used some stitched frames, tags and the Laser Cut Elements as some added layers, be sure to check out my walk through video.

Until Next Time: Happy Scrapping
